I haven't tested the behavior on an iPhone when that happens, but it will cause problems, so perhaps the phone just drops the wifi network in that case. My flatmates and I have only ever connected to it using ethernet so we didn't know it has ****** wireless performance - and yeah, it's a Netgear. I know its not a huge deal but its just annoying to have to do try accessing Planet 3 every time I need to verify I'm connected to wifi. Check your router settings. Put your phone into airplane mode then turn the wifi off this will force the wifi connection. You can then select a network from the list that appears. I've heard that Netgear routers generally have wireless issues with Apple products anyway - for interests sake I tried connecting to our network wirelessly with my iMac and although it connected initially, it had frequent dropouts. If it does, probably means its something up with your router. at home, I see the WiFi AND 3G symbols. Yep a few times...not sure if it is worth restoring or not as its not that big a problem. If it still fails to connect do a full restore. When your out & see the 3g symbol, does that mean your connected to the net & it is d/l data or does it mean you "can" surf the net ?? Fine. This worked for me. Perhaps you have some connectivity issue with your Wifi from your iPhone, so connection becomes unstable so it drops back to 3G, maybe weak signal. When i had this issue, it was because the ip address settings were not correct on my iphone. However my iPhone still works flawlessly with my work's wireless network (which uses a Netcomm modem) so I would assume that buying a non-Netgear router would solve your issues. In my wi-fi settings it says that I am connected to my network with a strong connection, however my network connection icon at the top says "3G" rather than the wifi icon, a speed test app shows that my connection is a lot slower then it should be with a wifi connection, and my apple remote app tells me I can't use it because I need to be connected to a wifi connection (which is just a log way of saying I know I'm definately not connected, an yet my wifi settings say I am). You're not on the 3 network by any chance, and confusing their tower name "3" as meaning 3G?
